Brandi Byers Inspires Future Technicians at GateWay Early College High School

Brandi Byers, Owner of Arizona Automotive Equipment, visited GateWay Early College High School to connect with high school students interested in automotive careers. Byers shared her practical insights on what it takes to succeed in the industry, emphasizing the importance of hard work, authentic connections, and the need to “hustle” in order to achieve long-term success. Her message clearly resonated with the students, many of whom shared their reflections after the meeting.

The teacher, Mr. Kelly said, “Thank you for taking the time out of your schedule to connect with our aspiring automotive-minded students. I appreciate your no-nonsense style and practical stance about what it takes to make things happen. Great job on connecting with them in an authentic and relevant way.”

Here’s what some of the students had to say in writing to their teacher about the experience:

“Thank you for the opportunity of meeting brandi. Meeting brandi kinda showed me what life after high school could be like. It was a great opportunity to have.” – Navarro

“It was amazing for you to let us have the opportunity to meet with Brandi and let us talk to her. A takeaway I had from this meeting this morning was how opportunities are created when you meet new people. I am very grateful for meeting with her.” – Rose

“The visitor was very amazing. She gave us thought out answers and she was amazing to speak to. It was nice to show her around the auto shop as well and to show her what work we did today!” – Haziel

“Something that I could say I learned or will keep in mind from what Ms Brandi said is that, to become something you want to be you are going to Hustle (do the dirty work) /Work hard now so that later it can be easy.” – Kevin

“My main takeaway from Ms. Byers meeting us was she kept telling us to hustle. I liked that because she had a different definition of hustle and I think she explains it in a way that makes more sense and shows how we can accomplish anything but we have to put in the effort.” – Jesus

“One thing I took away from the meeting was that hustling is very important.” – Alex

“The biggest take away is hustle you have to hustle in life to achieve your goals and you have to have grit to get through the hard stuff to get to the next level.” – Daniel

“This is what I had learned from the meeting. I learned that when finding it looking for connections that they should be a genuine connection to the industry and not something with previous experience. It is important that you connection is genuine in order to get a scoop of what people are looking for my for within work force. The word hustle for me has also changed. When I had discussed hustle with group we had all agreed that it’s working for the goal you had wanted after hearing her use hustle. We came to a conclusion that in order to do what one person wants to do to thrive you must do the dirty work or the not so fun work. Thank you for giving us this opportunity to meet someone to teach us and inspire us and give us the experience of making a first impression.” -Alejandro
